CHESTER, VA, January 16, 2018 — James Davis has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Rev. Dr. Davis is the Administrative Pastor with Chester United Methodist Church, though he has retired from Episcopal appointment after more than 45 years. Over the course of his career, he has served in a variety of roles, including as a pastor, biblical scholar, teacher, director of spiritual formation and President of a private Christian school. He is a Stephen Ministries leader and is well-versed in grief relationships.
Rev. Dr. Davis first obtained a BA from Central Methodist University in 1961 before going on to earn a M.Div. from the St. Paul School of Theology in 1965.
Following several years of hands-on ministry experience and even serving as the Associate Council Director of the Missouri East Conference of the United Methodist Church he continued his education at Northwestern University's Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, obtaining a Doctor in Ministry in 1989. He was verbally called to ministry and started preaching at the age of 11. Since that time he has endeavored to educate others using his own experience and biblical knowledge.
Rev. Dr. Davis has contributed numerous articles to professional journals, including the United Methodist Reporter. He has also authored the book “Won to be One,” which shows how the Holy Scripture calls for unity among the many different Christian denominations. In the near future, he intends to continue serving in his role with the Chester United Methodist Church.
