Professional Women Photographers and the Jadite Galleries Present The Power of Tones, a Celebration of Monotone Photography

PWP's end-of-year exhibition pushes members to shoot outside their comfort zones.

New York, NY, November 29, 2017 — Professional Women Photographers and the Jadite Galleries present The Power of Tones, December 5-16, 2017. The opening reception will be held at the gallery on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm.

PWP explores monotone digital photography in their latest exhibition, The Power of Tones. This exhibition explores a host of tonal ranges emulating the sepias, cyanotypes, uranotypes of years past, in addition to the more traditional black and white. The exhibition highlights the work of 83 photographers, from 17 states and six countries. The show will run from December 5th through 16th, with an opening reception on December 7th.

“PWP’s Exhibition Committee has wanted to do a show on black and white photography for a long time, but we noticed that some of our members were experimenting by printing in sepia and infrared. It inspired us think about all tones of photography,” says Lita Riddock, Director of Exhibitions. “The Power of Tones promises to be a fascinating show.”

PWP’s end-of-year show has become a member favorite. This is a great opportunity for new members to add a show in a New York City gallery to their artist's resume. Going through the process of selecting and editing their photos, then pricing and preparing them for gallery presentation, is a great exercise for any photographer.

PWP is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of women photographers since 1975. Through exhibitions, workshops and networking opportunities, PWP creates a dynamic environment that encourages individual growth and promotes public interest in photography.

Jadite Galleries is located at 413 West 50th Street in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood in New York City. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday 12:00pm-6:00pm.
