Dr. Jae Pil Ryu Recognized for Achievements in Bond Appraisal


    YEONGDEUNGPO-GU, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, December 26, 2017 — Dr. Jae Pil Ryu has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A widely regarded business professional, Dr. Ryu has worked with KIS Pricing, Inc., since 2013. As a member of the global investment products team, he appraises bond products for the company in an effort to determine their proper value. In this role, he is committed to calculating the price of a fair and objective bond. He is credited with proposing an international joint research project, entitled “Global Bond Portfolio Optimization,” to the Korea Israel Industrial Research and Development Foundation (KORIL-RDF). During this time, he performed a national task with the Israel research team that was valued at approximately $2 million.

In addition to his work in the field, he has served as an instructor with Sangmyung University since 2012. In this position, he developed a derivative products investment strategy and system for Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd, in addition to developing a portfolio rebalancing strategy and system for UBS Hong Kong. In 2013, Dr. Ryu acquired qualification to appraise bond products.

Prior to pursuing a career in management, Dr. Ryu attended Sangmyung University, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in management engineering in 2009, a Master's Degree in management engineering in 2011 and a Doctorate in management engineering in 2017. He also completed military service as a Korea specialized researcher. As an expert in his field, he is a member of the Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers, KAIS, and EA Academy.

In recognition of his contributions to academia, Dr. Ryu was awarded a Jaha Scholarship and Gyedang Scholarship by Sangmyung University. He was also selected for involvement with a cover thesis for the Korea Institute of Industrial Engineers. Dr. Ryu previously received a Grand Thesis Award from the institute's master's thesis competition.

One of the greatest highlights of Dr. Ryu's career was planning and developing a project entitled “Cut of Time,” which aimed to improve the appraisal quality of an overseas bond belonging to the National Pension Service. He attributes his success to his father, Ryu Woong Yeol; mother, Jeong Hyun Sook; professors, Ahn Bum Joon and Shin Hyun Joon; and wife, Choi Yoo Jin. As Dr. Ryu moves forward with his career, he hopes to continue his professional relationship with Sangmyung University as an instructor and developer.
