YORKTOWN, VA, January 11, 2018 — G. Louis Smith has been included in Marquis Who's Who. With more than 60 years of experience in the field, Dr. Smith has been a senior scientist with Science Systems Applications since 2000. He has also worked with NASA at the Langley Research Center in a variety of roles since 1956, including as a research scientist for the Clouds and Earth Radiant Energy System since 1991, the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment from 1975 to 1990, with the Satellite Project Support and Planetary Reentry Analysis from 1960 to 1974, and as a trainee from 1956 to 1959.
Dr. Smith began his career studying Aerospace Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, earning a BS, with honors, in 1960, an MS in 1963, and a PhD in 1968. He also completed coursework at George Washington University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Smith has been recognized for his contributions. NASA Langley Research Center awarded him the H.J.E. Reid Award for Best Publication in 1981, as well as a Technical Excellence Award, and a Group Achievement Award to CERES Team for Outstanding Group Achievement. He has also received a Medal for Exceptional Scientific Achievement. Looking toward the future, he intends to continue excelling as a senior scientist.
