HealthTrust Names John J. Young, M.D. Chief Medical Officer


NASHVILLE, Tenn.–()–HealthTrustSM today announced the appointment of John J. Young, M.D. as chief medical officer, effective Feb. 5, 2018. As CMO, Dr. Young will champion clinical integration in decision-making to advance providers’ clinical and financial performance. Dr. Young previously served as national medical director for LifePoint Health where he led strategic initiatives related to quality, patient safety, service line development, performance measurement and clinical operations across the 72-hospital system. Dr. Young succeeds Michael J. Schlosser, M.D. who was named chief medical officer for HCA Healthcare’s National Group.

Dr. Young is a board-certified physician in internal medicine, critical care, cardiology and interventional cardiology with more than 20 years of clinical and healthcare management experience. He has participated in over 100 clinical trials and authored or coauthored 90 articles, book chapters and monographs. Dr. Young holds numerous fellowships including the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (FSCAI), and the American Heart Association (FAHA). He received medical and MBA degrees from The Ohio State University and a B.S. in chemistry and biochemistry from Wright State University.
